During this crisis, it is important for educators, parents and students to take time to practice Self-Care.   Turn off the TV - especially the news, unplug and center yourself.   If you can't get outside and take a walk, bike ride or just sit in the sun, these resources may help:

Governor Cuomo recently extended all NYS School Closures to April 15th.   He will re-assess the situation in two weeks.   In the meantime, District Staff are working around the clock to move systems online and create dynamic learning resources in order to provide students with continuity in their instruction.   Many district staff have created Google Classrooms for their students.   Here are two great videos and a handout to help parents get started.

Preparing for a Brave New World

3/13/2020

I know many of my colleagues, parents and students are probably feeling the same strange mixture of fear, anxiety and relief that I am experiencing after hearing our district was closed due to the need to address deep cleaning in preventing the spread of the Coronavirus.   These are strange times indeed and there is no way to tell how long this situation will continue.   We are entering a Brave New World - one in which we need to find alternative ways to carry on the business of teaching and learning.   Our children need us to figure this out especially our most vulnerable, disabled students.   With this in mind, I have created this blog to share ideas to keep all our students supported and learning.

There are many companies and groups posting FREE resources for virtual learning.   Here are a few to start exploring:

Scholastic Learn at Home -  Resources for families, administrators and teachers.
Circle Time - early learning videos and live activities for young and emerging learners
Khan Academy - free online learning K-12
IXL Personalized Learning - free online lessons Pre-K - 12

cK-12 - video lessons and online activies for math, science, social studies and photography
